Structured cabling

Structured cabling is a universal system that supports transmission of digital and analogue signals. The junction points are installed at required locations as well as at expected locations required in the future. Despite structured cabling being a passive component without active elements, it comprises the foundation of the communication structure for local computer networks.

At present, its use is increasing in modern security systems, where progressively more IP communication devices are implemented.

Considering that structured cabling constitutes the foundation of the communication backbone, it is imperative that it is designed suitably and installed professionally. The most appropriate option is a system solution supplied by a certified partner; the client often receives a system warranty whose period can be up to ten years long.

The main advantage of this solution is the option to use a single type of cabling for a variety of technologies. A single type of cable can transmit data, audio, and video. 

Metallic conductors are usually used for shorter distances, while optical fibres are used for longer distances or in situations where a large volume of data is transmitted. A combination of both types of cabling is implemented in a large-scale installation.
